It is clear that you need a custom modem definition.
1) Copy the nokiaphone modem group from the modems.conf file to your
kannel.conf.
2) Change:
id = nokia_5200
in that group (in kannel.conf).
3) add variable:
init-string = "AT+CNMI=1,2,2,2,1"
in the same group.
4) update smsc group. Change:
modemtype = nokia_5200
5) Retest and repost logs. No need for more configuration files for now.

Do not overwrite generic modem configuration. It is needed for
other phones.
1) Start with the original modems.conf file under docs/examples.
Include that to your main kannel.conf.
2) Change:
modemtype = nokia
in your smsc configuration.
3) Also you shouldn't use port in your SMSc with a modem.
4) Test and post detailed bearerbox logs from startup, and if it
succeeds, the attempt to send an sms.
