I plug the mouse in. The red LED lights up and turns off and no working

I would be suspicious of the mouse, itself. I have something going
wrong with a mouse on an extension lead (and it behaves like that).

My Inland regular sized mouse is working fine.  This traveler sized Verbatim is not.  I wonder how old it is and maybe that is part of the problem?  It works fine on my Lenovo x140e and F41.

It used to be fine, but now I have every so slightly pull the mouse
plug out of the socket to get it to work. There's nothing obviously
wrong with the plug or socket, and cleaning didn't help. So I suspect
some of the USB contacts have worn a bit and are no-longer touching.

It's one of those things I should replace, but works when fiddled with,
and haven't got around to it.
