Brief update. I have RSEL7 working on a DreamPlug. The same image should work without modifications on other kirkwood devices.
The minimal image size will likely require at least a 4GB storage device. The old image was tuned to fit into 1GiB but this is far too impractical. I had to stretch it to 2GiB just to copy the kernel modules for 3.10.90 kernel across (nearly 814MB in /lib/modules/3.10.90-kirkwood, I kid you not). The main thing that still remains to be done at this stage is building a suitable kernel rpm. While it would be possible to modify F18's kernel src.rpm, this includes patches and is based on a really bizzare method of putting the source together from a base 3.10.0 kernel plus incremental patches. I think there are more sensible ways to handle kernel rpms. More over the next few days.
