addendum to my earlier post....And what I say applies to *any* software product Oracle, Windows, Linux, Ariba, etc.
- does anyone's job description read "become an maven expert"? no (unless you are a maven consultant) - does anyone get a bonus for learning maven, or writing a maven plugin? no Most people become experts in maven (or any software tool) as a defense mechanism -- they better or bad things happen when the tool behaves weird and they don't know how to debug it at 3am. "Experts" are a sure sign there are much greater number of users who just as soon use something else that is less painful. Those users form your disgruntled masses. They are the people who will complain loudly and bitterly to management about maven (or any other tool) that is a barrier to that person being able to get 100% of their quarterly bonus. Requiring someone be an expert to survive in their job does not make an advocate. Make maven invisible. Make the motto of maven be "No Experts required." Please
