I don't wish to sound rude, Delores, but you can remove OpenOffice from your computer the same way as for any other program, regardless of the operating system (whatever it is).

Come on brian,
there are people out there, witch definetly have no idea what a computer is all about and they just want to use it like you use a car if you are not a mechanic.
Just press the start button and lets surf.
Possibly she gets a preconfigured MS system and someone has installed this "cheap office" for her, and now she just stumbles over it. a normal DAU has no idea how to install or uninstall software if there is no autostart function by inserting the cd :-) i guess even in australia (thats the place where the alps are NOT located, for our american readers) there are normal DAU's with no knowledge on how to install/uninstall Software if the software does this not by itself.
Be patient to this kind of human beeings! Not everybody could be an expert in the field that he/she is dealing with [e.g. see the american president ;-)]

Ok Mario,
The point is that many people seem think that all computers are the same, just different names on them. Many people are also capable of installing programs from the Internet, and from CD, without thinking about the consequences or knowing how to remove the programs.
I regularly get requests from those who found out later they should not have put that program on, or who put an antivirus program on but didn't read the instructions and didn't realize they had to update it. I am expected to spend hours cleaning up their PC, and showing them how to use their programs, for $10, including travel.
So when someone asks how to remove a program, without stating the type of PC (it could be an Amstrad, Tandy Coco, Commodore64 for all I know) or the operating system, I wonder if they could follow the instructions anyway.
This list seems to be becoming an easy to use version of the users guide and help files.
That's my little rant.
Bottom line is that this list often gets posts with insufficient information. Can we come up with a unified approach to this, say a designated person/persons to reply with a standard text message, so that a proper reply can be made to the users problem. Can the moderators send these kinds of posts back for more info before letting them on the list.

Brian
