This is the general idea:
1. open explorer (WINKEY + E)
2. find yourself a word-document (.doc)
3. click it but DON't open it. (it just gets selected)
4. SHIFT-RIGHTCLICK on it
5. select Open With from the menu that unfolds
6. select Choose Program ...
7. Choose Word (or however it might be called) from the list
8. SELCT THE "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" option
9. Click OK.
(you can use the same trick to associate any kind of file with another program. For exemple GIFs in Photoshop instead of ACDSee)
