I understand your frustration, BUT you have to remember that you were probably just as frustrated when you first started using MS Office? I was, and yet since Off 97 I was a total idiot at first....But actually got to the point where I became a registered beta tester for Off 2003!
I downloaded OOo last month, and have been running it alongside MS Office 2003, I have problems also, but usually after turning my "MS Office" Head off, I manage to get it in the end...If you are feeling so frustrated, maybe the product is not for you, and you should consider uninstalling it, but at the end of the day it is free and is continually improving.
BTW
I learn loads of new stuff from the users group, without actually having to post my ignorance of the system.

I would just like to add the users of MS Office also suffer from all sorts of problems,See the microsoft.public.* newsgroups for the awful details, in fact right at this moment one of my clients, using office 2K has word crashing all the time, I am trying to get them over to openoffice, in due course I think I will, just keep at it!
