In writer: Insert >> Object >> Formula
This opens a Math window where you can type your formula. I dont know if this is the ONLY way.

OK. I type in the OOo Math window "f(x) - sum from(0) to(5) (x^2 + x + 5) and then press enter. I now have a beautiful equasion drafted and displayed in OOo math.
So far I have learned that I cannot copy it and past it into Writer or Calc, I select all and copy, but it seems to reject the use of the clipboard, as the previously stored text is still in the clipboard and not replaced by the Math copy.
So ... since you cannot use the equasion generated, of what good is the Math module???
