I would rather think that a little informal exchange, here, would be the best way to vet most ideas and problems. Then depending on what one learns from fellow users he could then choose escalation.

Err, isn't this the purpose of social and discuss? My thoughts are that this list is the first line help for users rather than discussing the merits of this or that part of OOo. Am I wrong?
Sorry, not following you. I am a user who needed help, and I got it. In the process some banter about how OO should be configured arose. That's a problem?
