Yes, it will. OpenOffice.org (OOo) will open MS Office files unless
they are password protected. Even that will be possible with version
2.0 which should be available this summer.
I use Linux on my computer, and I have no problems opening *.doc,
*.xls, *.ppt files that have been sent to me.
