Last week I changed my laptop from a HP to a Dell.
Had to, since the old one had a broken display hinge.
The HP was XP and the Dell is Vista.

Let me tell you, even though the Vista Upgrade advisor
software said there would be no troubles with my software
running on Vista, I had nothing but troubles.

Except OpenOffice.org 3.x

There was so many install problems with all my software,
that I was thinking about spending the $400 to fix the old
one and give up this new laptop.

Even the MS software pre-installed on this laptop crashed on
a regular basis. OOo has not crashed one on me in the past week.

I would like to say for the "record" that the people who do the work
on the programming of OOo should be praised for their efforts. If
their software works when MS's crashes, then they did a great job.

Thanks Everyone

+1

also a note that any software for windows XP loses its help subsystem when installed in Windows Vista. One reason I gave up MS Office 2003 and switched totally to OOo.
