I'd love to use open office, but, sadly, it seems open office has no plans to make a product that works in place of outlook. By "in place of" I mean one that works on Microsoft exchange just exactly like outlook does. So that I can install it on my work pc and run it and it finds all my e-mails and folders and everything contained on the exchange server, automatically incorporates the settings needed based on my domain login.
I know, I know. There are a lot of programmers and expert users out there who think outlook is a total piece of crap and no one in the right mind should ever use it. In my opinion this is ignoring the reality of the situation. Every company I've ever worked for since 1998 uses outlook. People want an Office replacement, not a work around. I don't see the value of using open office if I can't have all the pieces of the office suite work together INCLUDING the e-mail client. Thanks for listening. Jerry
