Sun Report Builder is one that will have problems and requires you to switch to a development build of the extension - I don't know about the others for sure. So a Better 3.0 release? Not sure, but a different one at least. For production use on my Ubuntu 8.10 (x64), Gnome, box I use the 3.0 version from the ooo-build distro and install via synaptic package manager: Ubuntu version - 1:3.0.0-6ubuntu0intrepid1(ppa.launchpad.net) OpenOffice.org equivilant - OOO300_m9(Build 9358) The repositories for this build are found at deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/openoffice-pkgs/ubuntu intrepid main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/openoffice-pkgs/ubuntu intrepid main So far I've experienced no problems save: The Help menu items, "Get help on line" and "Report Bug" are not working for me as they did with the 2.4.1 release. Only change I make is to use the SUN 64bit Java runtime instead of the OpenJDK that oo-build has started to use by default. Other slight changes - The extensions that require support in the baseline code (ie - Sun extensions, PDF Import, Sun report builder, etc) are supplied from the repositories also and I would recommend using those. Another option would be of course to use the OOO300_m13 development build, available from the OpenOffice.org download sites, which is the 3.0.1 codeline. This also means all the current extensions available at the OO.o extensions site also work as expected.
