Maybe not, but all versions of Java JRE remain on your system until you
remove them, and the version downloaded with OO.o will be attached to the
OO.o installation, so will be as insecure as the old version of Java.
Web Kracked, installing the latest, greatest JRE version, 6u11, does, for
the first time in recorded history, remove a preceding 6u10. However, if
OOo, as is its wont, includes a much earlier version, like 6u7, then this
latter will have to be removed manually after 6u11 is installed. For those
running Windows OS, where the problem you mention regarding security
vulnerabilities is most topical, the best thing to do, I suggest, is to
check the Control Panel after installing a new version to see if any older
versions remain (I've seen as many as six different versions of JRE on a
single computer)....

Yes, the older version never were removed before, on my Vista Laptop.
On my XP laptop, there were 5 or more versions listed before I
manually removed them.
I love to make sure the older stuff is gone, but one person said that
we should not remove them since some packages/software looks for
the older version that was installed with them and do not have the
ability to look for the newest versions without their software
updating themselves.
Well. hopefully that will be better.
