I have OpenOffice 2.0 on my home computer and there are some 'excel' files that I'm trying to

What does quoted 'excel' mean?

Will updating to the latest version solve the problem?

No.

And I suppose I will have to copy & paste the info into the updated template?!?

I have no idea what your talking about. What does importing data have to do with a template?

Is there also a way to get set up so that I have the option to
automatically update OpenOffice when new versions come out?
This is automatic AFAIK. You can enable this is options.

I also have 3 of the OpenOffice systems on my laptop.

What 3 "systems"? I assume you mean applications.

It is an ASUS that only has 4GB to run everything. So if there are
downloads, can I automatically just update the ones that I have on it at present?

Don't know if update works for partial installs, I'd assume it does. But you save very little space with OOo doing partial installs.

To Adam Tauno Williams: the questioner will not have seen your response because she is not subscribed to this list and you did not cc her explicitly. I leave it to you decide how to proceed.
