OpenOffice.org is free and can be used alongside with other similar
kinds of software (like MS Office). Just download it, install it and
try it out. If it fulfills your needs, keep it. If not, uninstall it.
Simple as that…
Just remember that OpenOffice.org IS NOT MS Office, and is not
supposed to be, which means that some things are different from what
you are used to. Some people things that is a bad thing, other think
it's a good thing. You need to find out what YOU think. No one else
can decide that for you.

If you run into problems, you can ask for help here. If you do, please
be as specific as possible and provide as much information as you can:
What version of OpenOffice.org are you using? What is your operating
system (Windows 7, Ubuntu 9.04, Mac OS 10.5, Mandriva Linux One 2009.1
etc)? What are you trying to do? What do you expect to happen? What
actually happens?
