Well yes they do. However, as we (tiaw) know, many folks will go ahead
and reply while still not understanding what an email list is, not to
mention a medium volume email list. Many are used to subscribing to
online help forums, not email lists.

You can figure it out, I can figure it out... but then again we *know*
what an email list is[1]. Think AOL & set up a subscribe page like the
one that I pointed to
(https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users) instead.

[1] disclaimer: I subscribe to, and post on many _high_ volume lists
each day. However, would _never_ do this if I had to mess with
downloading thousands of emails each day. Instead I participate on those
lists using nntp via the gmane.org server.
