As mention in my previous message I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04
to 9.10. On 8.04 I had installed OO 3.1 direct from the OO website but
am currently using the Ubuntu packaged version of 3.1.1.
I have just tried to compose a letter to someone and, being of somewhat
traditional mind, wanted to put my address at top right of the page,
with the addressee's address at top left. I have in the past used a
frame to position my address, but when I do this with 3.1.1 I find that
the spacing between lines is excessive. I tried a couple of different
fonts (Nimbus... and Freeserif) but that made no difference. Eventually
I gave up deleted the frame and used tabs to position it across, but
that's a pain if I ever need to amend the addressee details.
Can anyone advise me on the best way to achieve my ends?
Yes! Use a First Page header and define one, or more paragraph styles
with appropriate indentation to position your address details. I find 2
styles are adequate, one for the address and the other for telephone
numbers etc.
As ever, styles will be your friends. :-)
