His suggestion was clearly that "normal users" should stick to the
released versions to avoid falling into the pitfalls of bugs. If you
want to take the chance that a bug will loose your data, format your
hard drive, or set your house on fire, then go right ahead. His
response was very normal and appropriate, I think that you
misinterpreted it and over reacted.
