Yes, except that you're working on a Mac, which doesn't have the chkdsk program. Unfortunately I'm new to the Mac, and don't yet know what the Mac equivalent is. But in Applications/Utilites you have Disk Utility which I think has a disk checking function. But try the simple test first, and see if you can save a Text Editor file in the same folder. BTW, where are you trying to save your file?
