Does anyone know a release date for 3.2?

Got any ideas on how long it would be from the release date
of the "final version" and when Ubuntu might place it on their
repository for "upgrade"?
Ubuntu still has several programs on its repository that are
"slightly broken" while the newest versions are several numbers
higher than their repository version. I have to add the repository
from "getdeb.net" to find updated programs. The same is true with
the last time I installed OOo on 32-bit and 64-bit Ubuntu.
I want to upgrade to the 3.2 version as soon as I can, while for some
reason[s] the non-repository install seems not to work for me, for
whatever the reason[s].
Ask on launchpad questions.
Ask on launchpad questions?
Yes. Asking about Ubuntu's OOo releases here is just a waste of time for
the list users. Open OOo in Ubuntu, select Help/F1 and click 'Get Help
Online'. You'll be directed to:

Does that not work for you?
To me, this thread is more a comment about Ubuntu and some other distros
not keeping up
with the changes in software version in their repository. Also maybe
finding people here
that know of repositories for the various distros that may be more
up-to-date then the
distros' main ones.
Several people here had comments about the best way to get OOo installed
on Ubuntu and
other systems.
I also commented before about someone or group of people volunteering to
create a "semi-official"
repository of .deb and RPM files for the latest versions of OOo. Then
within days of the official
release of the next version/update of OOo, it would be on that
repository. Then it would be easy
to update since the Update Manager system would detect that there is a
new/updated version
and automatically ask if you want to install it.
I want the process of finding out about a new update for OOo and
installing it be as easy as
possible. No need for using the terminal to type in cryptic commands
and hope you spelled
everything right.
The easier a software like OOo is to install and use, the more likely
that non-hardcore users will
tell their friends and associates to "try it and see if you like it
better than. . . . ". Whether it is
Windows, MAC, or Linux, if it is hard to install, people may thing the
software would be too
hard to use. That is what I have seen.
The thread, to my view, was a comment on the best way to install the
software whenever
it is released, plus wondering how long will we have to wait for the
release as well.
If that is not how you saw the information in this thread, well we all
see things differently.
