"If you pass it along" - what do you mean? Do you mean passing along an
OOo file? A macro virus in an OOo file would have to have been written
in OOo, and if you later save as MS Office format and send to a Windows
user with MS Office, the OOo macro virus will not run on their
computers. The macro programming languages used by OOo and MS Office
are not compatible.

If you send them an e-mail with a Windows virus attachment it will run
only if they click on it to run it. The only way this could happen is
if you forward an e-mail that contains the virus. The solution is never
forward an e-mail that contains an attachment unless you know that the
attachment is safe.

I used Ubuntu and OOo for four years and never had a virus on my
computer, nor did I unintentionally infect someone else's Windows
computer by sending them an infected file. However, I rarely forward
e-mails because I find it rude when someone forwards e-mails to me.
