The problem is when they send you one that has a nasty. You do not
see it via Linux protections, but if you pass it along - POW if it
gets to a Windows User. I am the only one of my local friends and
support that uses Linux as the default.

"If you pass it along" - what do you mean? Do you mean passing along an
OOo file? A macro virus in an OOo file would have to have been written
in OOo, and if you later save as MS Office format and send to a Windows
user with MS Office, the OOo macro virus will not run on their
computers. The macro programming languages used by OOo and MS Office
are not compatible.
I get a lot of DOCs in and most of it is MSO files. I use OOo to do the
work and either send it back or to others in the document chain.

I used Ubuntu and OOo for four years and never had a virus on my
computer, nor did I unintentionally infect someone else's Windows
computer by sending them an infected file. However, I rarely forward
e-mails because I find it rude when someone forwards e-mails to me.

I get a bunch of viruses coming in those documents every year.
That was one way I could tell that they needed to get their AV
running proper again. I have one lady and son who keeps getting
infected from the social network sites and sometimes it shows up
in their emailed documents. On the Windows machine, I have/had
so much security on my systems that if I find someone that is really
infected to the point of unusable, several of these in the past few years,
I just take their drives out and connect it up to one of my heavy
security systems and as it tries to infect my system, I "completely"
clean their system. Had one person in an Insurance office who NEVER
used security like AV on the laptop.

So you can see that I am the one who cleans infected systems, get lots
of infected documents each year. Like you, I have not had an infection
in years, due to my secured computers.
