OTOH it might just mean your explanation isn't clear enough for people
to consider using their valuable time to understand the problem.
However, I /think/ what you're after is what's described under
'external data' (now 'external links' I assume) on page 234 of the
user guide at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/OOo2.x/user_guide2_draft.pdf
(now outdated). However, I have to say I've not been able to follow
this with v3 (with /any/ file) - the OK button remains greyed out. But
do take a look too at
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/w/images/7/7b/0310CG3-LinkingCalcData.pdf
(near page 17) which seems to be an updated version.
Hope this might give a pointer or two.
I failed that one too; the OK button remains greyed out even if I select
local files on my HDD.
But you are probably right that I my explanation isn't clear enough and
I should probably stay focused on only one problem.
So this is my problem:
Let's say that I have a file called test.ods and it's located at
http://hem.bredband.net/b619539/.
I want to sum a few cells from that file, let's say Tabell1.A2:A9, into
a new file.
So what should I type into a cell in the new spreadsheet file to obtain
this?
I have tried
”=SUM('http://hem.bredband.net/b619539/Test.ods'#$Tabell1.A2:A9)” and it
didn't work. The result was ”#NAME?”.
IT may not be what you want, but I see what the problem is and a workaround.
Firstly, the help file (but not the pdf??) states this only works for
named ranges in the inserted file. So take your file test.ods, select
the relevant cells and do an Insert|names|define.
Then go to your target document, and doing the 'insert|external links'
stuff will now (maybe?!?!) work - I've tried a local file, and my range
name is displayed and the OK button is active. This will fill some cells
in the target - but the contents are still linked to the included file.
Do as you will with them.... (I suggest playing with a local document -
it's easier)
