     If I understand you correctly, you want to sort one column and that 
is it. The information in the other columns remains in the order it was 
in the beginning. If this is the case, click the letter at the top of 
the column you want to sort. Data > Sort will bring up a window in 
which you decide how you want that column to be sorted. Click OK.
     To sort a row or column, it must be highlighted first. If you want 
to sort multiple columns or rows at one time, they must all be 
highlighted.
