Subject: Re: [users] Unsub

Apparently the address that I use to receive emails is not the same as the
one my ISP sends, but my ISP translates it on their server. As a result, my
unsub command carries an address that isn't in the database, and every
attempt to modify the acknowledgement email has failed, as I'm still getting
messages.

And while the typical reader/volunteer cannot help, a moderator must
occasionally read these messages, and that person can bring this to the
attention of the list owner (who apparently ignores emails written by me
directly).

And yes, I'm on this list and the Discuss list, so I am speaking of multiple
lists. I apologize for hijacking the original thread, but I can't think of
any better way to get a moderator's attention without being obnoxious.

Alan,
You may need to go to the webmail app on the server which hosts the email
address in question and send your unsubscribe request from there. It sounds
as if your host doesn't support smtp (or whatever sendmail protocol) and
your local client is set to send from a server which does have sendmail.
But if for whatever reason you cannot seem to get your email address off of
a list (which, BTW, there is ALWAYS a "proper" way to do so if instructions
given are followed), why don't you just create a filter for your email or
webmail app that consigns the messages to the trash? You will never see them
again. Of course, this method would continue to use minimal bandwidth and
most certainly is an "option of last resort". But if you don't want to "see"
the messages and can't seem to get them to stop.....well, just let your
machine send them to the trash for you.
This option is really a little more involved than simply sending your
unsubscribe request from the correct server, but...
