Sorry for the mixup from my side, but this behavior has been there
EXACTLY the same since the OpenOffice 2.0 (or earlier) days
and I found it always annoying. Long before I tried LibreOffice, which
is a rather recent event.
I am not sure I can accomplish "filing a bug report", but will try that.
(these things always look terribly complicated - way beyong my
capability of comprehension ...)

You should post your question again on the LibreOffice user mailing
list. You can find the mailing lists and how to join here:
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/. If there is resolution to your
problem, then you can fill a bug report. If you have a problem filling
out the report, some of the LibreOffice user members will help you fill
one out.
