how do i print page number / total pages in the
footer
section of my writer documents?

insert -> fields -> page number delivers the page
number. adding a " / " adds the slash. how do i
get
the program to calculate the total pages and put

it

after the slash?

i googled this and found nothing - which surprised
me.

any help would be appreciated.

tia..

If you are doing it in a valid footer object, then
you go into
the Edit area and click on the # icon, then put a
"/", then click on the "##" icon.

If you are creating an artificial footer using
sections or
layout, then you will Insert > Fields > Page Number,
then
put a "/", then Insert > Fields > Page Count.

i googled this and found nothing - which surprised

Try the OpenOffice.org knowledgebase instead next
time at the
link below. There are quite a few answers to
commonly asked
questions, and even the tricky ones. :)

thanks, but pagecount is not an option in my Draw
fields menu. i would like to think i would have
chosen that if it was available. :-)

I don't see the option there either. You may wished to file an issue as request for enchancement.

The best way to have problems such as this evaluated is to file an
issue. Issued are used to both report defects in the software and to
propose that new features be added. For instructions on how to file an
issue please see:

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is important that you file
the issue to ensure reproducibility with your examples.
