Ummm.. I am lost about what you mean here? I can certainly select two or more objects in Draw and align them. Mostly it's manageable; when it's not, it's a killer. Writer does not offer the graphics capabilities as it is not required. That is what Draw does for you. You simply do Insert -> OLE Object and choose the Draw type. This will then allow you to edit (using Draw), any drawing object you want in your Writer document.
