It sounds like the program is trying to save backups in a area that doesn't exist or where you don't have permission to write. If you want the back-ups, look up where the backups are going, (I don't know off-hand), and change it to a "nicer" place.
If you can't save at all, try using Save-As and direct it to a directory you have write permission. Good luck.
