You need to open them, not as a wp file, but drop down the file type to MS Word. It came with MS Word 6 filters - and if you go on to the Corel website you can dowload a patch to bring it up to MS Word 97 (Office 97) level. Here's from their site (http://kb.corel.com/scripts/texis.exe/kb/kb/+MwwFqrTIabdGmnQmwwwwewjYkewVbdqew6QrGGdGael8xqcnaNdBa- d1DmelGmDZqq1G5abrnDaZpnDoDtawaToqGd5dhBabdGmaKsaeNDxmeZGBrdq1MnDBeISbtqDbdGm7nGhnqBa8/details.html ):
" Error "File Not Found" Occurs When Opening a Microsoft Word 97 (tm) Document. Article ID: 11897 Revision Date: May 13, 1997 The information in this document applies to: WordPerfect(R) 8 for Windows(R) When opening a file created in MS Word 97 the error "File Not Found" is displayed. A conversion driver for MS Word 97 files is now available on the Corel FTP site. The name of the patch is WP8CNV97.EXE. The URL for this patch is: ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/WordPerfect/wpwin/8/ This web address is case sensitive Note: This patch requires WP8 version 8.0.0.225 or higher. If you have release 8.0.0.153, you will need to obtain an updated CD from our Customer Service department. If your program release number is 8.0.0.393 or higher, you already have this patch installed, and do not need to install it.A Until the patch can be obtained, a workaround is to save the file from MS Word 97 in Word 6.0/95 format or Rich Text Format (RTF). Note MS Word 97 uses Rich Text Format when it saves as Word 6.0/95. To determine what release of WordPerfect 8 you possess, click on 'Help', then click on 'About Corel WordPerfect'. On this window, you will see an entry labeled 'Program Release'. The version number is displayed there. If you have release 8.0.0.153, you may order an updated CD from our Customer Service department. The current number, as of 10/15/98, is 1-800-77C-OREL (1-800-772-6735) Note, the Conversion Patch is already built into any WordPerfect 8 with a version number of 8.0.0.393 or higher."
