This is my first time installation of OOo 2.0 with JRE on a Windows XP
platform on an Intel Pentium 4 computer.
Two messages were displayed during the JRE setup. The first is a Warning
message as shown below: -
Warning - Java (TM) Update
Java Update cannot be installed on this
machine because the directory you have
chosen to install is locked.
Please close any browser or application
that is using the directory you have
chosen for installation.
Retry Cancel
There were NO OTHER applications running during installation. Clicked
several times on Retry button but to no avail. Clicking the Cancel button
brought up the following error message: -
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3 Install...
Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows
Installer package. A program run as part of the setup
did not finish as expected. Contact your support
personnel or package vendor.
OK
Clicked on the OK button whereupon the rest of the OOo installation
proceeded smoothly to completion. I'm happy to report there are no problems
with running all six application modules in the OOo suite ofter the
installation.
Note: The above two messages still occured even though I've done the
following: (i) de-installed JRE and OOo, (ii) re-booted the pc, and (iii)
made sure there were no other applications and re-installed OOo v2.0 with
JRE.
Any explanation and solution of the above errors will be appreciated. Thank
