"simply does not work" means different things to different people. more 
details will be necessary.
Did you try executing the "soffice" program found in c:
\programs\openoffice.org2.0.2\programs (or equivalent folder) ?
Did you try executing the program from the Windows shell to see if you got any 
more output ?
Did you verify that the MD5SUM utility verified that your download was not 
corrupted ?
