Hi James, > Is it now possible to connect to a Microsoft Access database file (.mdb)?
On Windows, it has been possible all the time. Provided that we "connect", we both mean "connect" :). That is, you cannot File/Open an .mdb file. But you can create a database document (.odb) via File/New/Database, and let it retrieve its data from (and write to) the .mdb. On older versions of Windows, you need the Microsoft Data Access Components [1] from MS, which are available for free. On Windows XP, they're included, so this works out-of-the-box. On OS other than Windows, you cannot connect to .mdb files. There's a preliminary Linux version of OOo, built from a child workspace. But this is not in production quality by far, and really cannot be recommended except for strict testing purpose.
