What do you mean by "validate"? How are you doing it?
I also have Nvu (Linux) on my computers. After completing the web
page (all text) and saving it, I open it in Nvu. In the Tools Menu,
there is a Validate HTML selection. Clicking it sends the file to the
W3C web site for validation.
NVU automatically reformats everything.
