I've been taking a look at both Open Office and StarOffice to choose
between them. So far Open Office is winning but I do like the
'gallery' that StarOffice provides - much fuller than the Open Office
gallery.

component of StarOffice be transferred to Open Office? (Well, if I
don't ask I won't get told, right? O:-) )
I do note that I can copy and paste from one to another but it seems a
bit of overkill to have both programs installed.

I'm not fully familiar with the contents of the StarOffice gallery, but
if this is the deciding factor it might be worth having a look at
OpenOffice.org Premium. I'm afraid I haven't got the URL to hand but you
should be able to google it.
