You are forgetting an earlier post. OOo in Windows doesn't recognize
my default email client.
I remember now that you had a previous problem, but I can't see an
immediate way forward. My Windows XP system, with SP2 and using
Thunderbird 1.5.0.7, handles the sending of mail from OO.o 2.0.4 without
trouble. I doubt that OO.o cares about which e-mail client you are
using: I would expect it to use MAPI with the system default client
without needing to know which one that is.
Have you trawled through the Registry to confirm that Thunderbird is
really set as the default e-mail client? I'm not sure which key(s) are
relevant, but HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Clients/Mail identifies Mozilla
Thunderbird in my system.
Failing this I'm happy to compare notes with you to track down the
essential differences between our systems.
I think that OOo needs to know the SMTP info for mail merge because
it does not use an email client to do the sending.
Yes. I'm sure you are correct. I mentioned it because this is the only
location in Tools/Options where e-mail is mentioned, although I do have
a vague memory that once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away it was
possible to specify a particular client, with Default as one of the options.
