After installing the font under Linux (using the OOo SPAdmin tool - not required for Windows font installs) all the symbols appear to be there when accessed via the "Insert - Special Character" dialog in OOo. Have you tried this method?

Ross: I hadn't tried it before, but I just tried it. It doesn't work, when I do it and select the Orienteering font, all of the selections shown are generic boxes rather than any type of symbol. Sounds like a difference between Linux and Windows. Or else there is something else I need to do with Windows?
