(page number is a veriable that can be changed on any page) BAD assumption. What if I want it the other way around. What if on page 5 I insert a page break and change the page number back to one .. now what is left and right. What if I want a different first page.. OO has to take all of this into account.. and we haven't even mentioned "sections" The correct way to control this is with PAGE styles, with headers turned on. Left for a left page, right for a right page.. you follow left page style with a right page styel and right with a left page style. just like any other word processing program or publishing program that supports styles.. If you want to do it your way... don't assume OO can't do it or OO is broke.. and I'm done with this topic..
