I save my documents always in the OOo format, but when sending them to
someone I do this as a pdf file. It is very simple: File -> Send -> As
pdf (or something similar, I use the french version of OOo). I even
installed a special button on my toolbar for it!
If you really need to communicate a text that can be changed by your
correspondent, then of coarse you could transform (by "Save as...") into
another format such as rtf or even doc.
As I am working in a Notary office, we like to keep control over our
text and therefor we avoid to distribute text in a treatable format.

Many thanks for your help with an earlier query re dowloading Open Office.
Having now started using the product, could I pick your brains on another thing?
When I first started saving new documents, I used the default format option
OpenDocument Text (.odt), but I found that e-mail recipients could not then
open them when sent as attachments. I think I've found a better option now; but
which one would you recommend for universal acceptability of attachments
withour causing other problems - and how do I make that one my default option?
Thanking you again in anticipation
Andy Thompson
