Kevin, John: Solution 1: (the elegant and the right way) Are you sure you have the "regular expression" box ticked (in the Find and replace dialog, click on "more options" - it is the third check box down the list) ??? Then, in the "find" section, type out a ";" and in the replace section, type out a "\t" (both without the quotes). Solution 2: This is a kludgy solution (ok, ok I *must* be a moron, or drunk... or both...grin): 1. In any free point of Writer (or any application that allows you to copy), type out a tab (press the tab key). 2. Select and copy the tab. 3. Open the find and replace option (Control+F). 3.a. In the "Find" section, give your character (say, a ";", without the quotes). 3.b. In the replace section, press Control + V (thereby pasting the copied "tab" char from step 1 and 2 above). 4. Do a replace all (for our collective sanity, please try this on a document that you can sacrifice). HTH ! Associated Question to the other gurus: In the find and replace dialog, I was unable to get the "Special Character Menu" activated by pressing Shift+Control+S (my idea was to see if there was a "tab" char in the special character section which I could use as a replacement pattern). Could someone tell me if this is normal ?
