Your major mistake is in thinking that openoffice.org's agenda is
influenced
to any degree by the requirements of users or prospective users.


Users of Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy), which provides OOo 2.0.4 by default, have
access to a list of OOo icons under Applications→Office....

As to what drives the development of OpenOffice.org, I am sure you know more
about that than I....
