Thank you for your reply. I do not know what I am doing wrong. If I use the left mouse button all it does is move the whole text box to a new position on the slide and I cannot seem to get anywhere to be able to highlight the text itself

I have pasted some text into slides in Impress
I cannot work out how to change the colour and font of that text.
Anything in format does not seem to work.
What do I need to do? Have I got to delete the box and then do
the alterations outside of Impress and paste it back in?

Highlight the text. Right click the text. Select Edid Style from
the context menu. Then make the changes you want under the Font and
Font Effects tabs.
