Here's the output from' aptitude search openoffice' where I've only
displayed the 'I' (installed) packages.

Note that my system is ubuntu edgy running on an AMD64 processor, but
using the i386 release (long story)...

On a completely different note, I've been told that the 'smart'
(http://labix.org/smart) package manager actually deals with conflicts
better than synaptic. From a quick look I can't find an ubuntu package
but I'm sure you'll be able to get it done (being a Linux user)...

I am trying to fix a problem where drag and drop of text does not work.
To do so I want to uninstall OOo, then reinstall. But something weird
is going on. There are lots of OOo packages listed in Synaptic as
installed. I can select all of them and mark for removal, but when I
click on Apply I get various error messages. The most common is "fix
broken packages first." Each time I tell Synaptic to fix the broken
packages, it announces that it has done so, but the errors continue. I
seem to be unable to uninstall it. Right there, that tells me that
there is something wrong with the installation, but until I can
uninstall it I don't know how to fix it.

I'd like to compare my list of installed packages with those of someone
else whose OOo is functioning properly. Could someone using OOo 2.04 on
Edgy amd64 tell me which OOo packages are listed as installed in
Synaptic? Thanks!

Huh ?? Defender doesn't stop spyware (Webroot) ; firewall is only 50%
effective (Zdnet) ; UAC can be turned off and is annoying ; SP1 (incl
security reasons) due end of 2007...
