This seems pretty odd to me. I can't imagine why the template would
be set up using frames instead of a table.
You and me both! That's why I created my own set of label templates (US
Letter and A4) and made them available to all and sundry (including the
OP, off list) via my web site.
Could you explain why you think that a table is better than frames? If
it's only the selection thing I don't see a difference here as a "select
all" works in both cases (though you have to press it twice for the
frames).
Certainly. The first thing to come to mind is the ability to vertically
centre the text in a table cell - highly desirable in label usage.
Secondly, I find it far easier (and natural) to knock up a table for any
unique label stock: symmetric cells are, after all, tabular in nature.
Creating and positioning frames is, to my way of thinking, a very long
way around the houses to reach a simple solution.
Thirdly, tables are used by a well known competitor, lots of people are
familiar with them and doing something different just to be different
doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
There are other reasons, but it's past my bed-time and I'm not thinking
too well:-)
