2007/2/20, Neil Milne <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Hello,
I have just purchased a MACBOOK PRO with MAC X - 10.4.8
I have had a strong recommendation to use open office.
It seems that the download of openoffice is not suitable for 10.4.8
Is this correct? Your download says up to 10.3
Your help or a link to the correct version would be very much
appreciated.

Hello Neil,

Please take a look at the Mac pages at the OpenOffice.org website
http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/

OpenOffice.org (latest is version 2.1) works fine on any Mac (G3 and higher,
10.3.x or higher, 256 MB memory or *preferably* more).
There are different versions for PowerPC and for Intel Macs (follow links on
the site)

You'll need to use (install) the X11 windowing program (X11User.pkg sits on
your Mac OSX 10.4 install disks).
A native 'Aqua' version is being developed, and should be ready in some
months...

There is an Australian dictionary available, thanks mainly to the
work of Kelvin Eldridge. The details can be found at:

success!
