currently learning the symbols on the keyboard. Is there and ALT keyboard
command for the cent sign? I know lots of other shortcuts like ALT + 1, and
ALT + 167 etc. Help Me Please. The kids like to learn these.

Hi Rachelle,
the symbol for the cent is not included in the original 'ascii' 127
characters, so it varies according to the key-code table you are using on
your PC. In table 437 (US), 860 (Portugal), 863 (Canada), it corresponds
to the 'extended ascii' (decimal) 155, (hex) 9B. In Unicode it is 00A2
hex, 162 dec. I don't think you can write it with ALT+key while you are
in Openoffice (there was a recent thread on this topic a few days ago)
but you can get it using 'Insert/Special characters', or pressing
'ALT-GR + c' (if you are under Linux OS).

Ennio.
Ciao Ennio,
interesting ! On my Linux (Ubuntu 6.10) machine, Alt Gr + c = Alt Gr + Shift
+ c → (c). To obtain ¢ I have to perform the more complicated Ctrl + Shift +
u, then the hexcode 00a2 (0a2 works equally well), then space-bar
procedure....
