In wordpad, you can just enter 0a2 followed by Alt+x. No ctrl+shift needed. I just tested that a few seconds ago. Even a2 Alt+x will do the trick, the zero is not needed.

Yes, and more so (but also more powerful) than the «Alt + > 0xxx» that was available to me when using Windows XP, but the procedure > doesn't require extraordinary dexterity, and to my mind is to be preferred > to a cut and paste procedure or opening Character Manager and drawing and > dropping. Thank you very much. I had the (wrong, as I now realise) impression that the 0,a and 2 had to be pressed *while* the Ctrl+Shift+u were being held down; this is what I found impossible. On Windows XP, the Ctrl+Shift+u trick works in Wordpad but *not* in OpenOffice; I can't test MS office because I don't have it installed. Also, in Wordpad, after hitting the 0, a and 2, you need to do Alt+x *instead of* the space bar to make the cent sign appear. -- Harold Fuchs London, England Please reply *only* to [email protected]
