Hi Glenna
Can I print an envelope without creating a letter first? I can't get an
envelope to print even with a letter. I've tried every setting and
adjustment I can think of but with no luck. I never had a problem when
using Word.
Writer does envelopes differently to Word. It works well once you
understand how to do it. There are a couple of ways to do it. (In fact,
every word processor gives you different ways to do envelopes.)
First way:
Select Insert / Envelope and fill in the information as usual, then click
on "New Doc." This will create an envelope without an accompanying
document. If you like, you can save this envelope as a template for future
use.
Second way:
You can also create an envelope by starting a new document, and changing
the paper size to DL (or whatever envelope size you are using). Change the
margins so that they look right for an envelope - you probably want the
top and left margins to be quite big. Again, you might want to save your
envelope as a template for future use.
Also I wrote before about not having any templates. There are none in
my Templates "directory".
Because OpenOffice.org is downloaded from the internet, there are not a
lot of "extras" to keep the size down.
There are additional templates available at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/Samples_Templates/index.html
http://ooextras.sourceforge.net/
and clipart available from
http://www.openclipart.org/
http://openphoto.net/
You can also contribute your own templates and clipart to these projects.
If you don't mind a large download, there is also a project called
OxygenOffice Professional, which is OpenOffice.org with extra templates,
clipart and fonts already installed. You can find OxygenOffice
Professional here
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ooop
Hope all of this helps.
