I'm not sure if this is a common problem, but I downloaded OpenOffice 2.1 and went through the installation wizard. It said it was installed. I clicked Finish and rebooted. I couldn't find any OpenOffice link in the programs menu or on the desktop. This is a brand new HP 9207. I'm sure it meets the system requirements. I haven't changed the computer so it shouldn't run into any problems.
Have you tried searching for the executables within the directory that you installed OOo??
